Road to Global Conference: The FIFA WC and the Economy of Soccer

July 16 | 5.30 PM
Transatlantic Innovation Hub, 417 5th Ave, Suite 814, New York, NY

This event is part of "Road to Global Conference 2026" — a worldwide series of gatherings organized by the Bocconi Alumni Chapter and Topic Groups that anticipates and explores the themes of the Bocconi Alumni Global Conference. Beyond Borders: Knowledge and Leadership across Generations and Geographies will take place at The University Club, New York, on 25 September 2026.
The evening before, on 24 September, Friends of Bocconi and Bocconi Alumni will host the Benefit Gala — same spirit, same city, a night of celebration and generosity and support for talented students accessing a Bocconi education.

During Professor Dino Ruta's visit to New York, the Bocconi Alumni Community and the New York Chapter, with the support of Friends of Bocconi, are hosting this event dedicated to "The FIFA World Cup and the Economy of Soccer."

The event will explore how the FIFA World Cup has become a powerful economic and strategic driver for the global sports industry. The discussion will examine the evolving business of soccer, from investment and innovation to media, sponsorship, fan engagement, and the long-term impact of major sporting events on cities, organizations, and global markets. It will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the broader role of sport as a platform for leadership, international collaboration, and economic development.

Professor Ruta will also take part in the Bocconi Alumni Global Conference 2026 with his panel, "The Business of Winning: Investing in Sports, Brands and Legacy".
